"Lee's House,
a quaint B&B
in the heart of Sliema"

A brief history ...

The house was built in the early 20th century, it eventually found itself under the ownership of the Roman Catholic Church as did a many number of properties as at the time, as it was common for the Maltese to leave their property to the church after their passing. The house was then sold on to a family and eventually to its current owner who renovated the property and turned it into the B&B it is today.

Architecture ...

The traditional Maltese townhouse is iconic due to a number of core features. Most iconic maybe is the balcony made of wood, examples of which you will find in any village core on the island. Second is the structure and facade both made of Maltese limestone as well as wooden support beams between each level and wooden apertures matching the front door. Another central feature is the entrance hall or 'intrata' which usually had a glazed door looking over onto the street. Other less well known features include wells to collect rainwater and underground cellars used in the past to store food.

Sliema

The Town of Sliema...

Sliema (Maltese: "Tas-Sliema") is a town located on the northeast coast of Malta in the Northern Harbour district. It is a major residential and commercial zone as well as a hub for dining and social nightlife .

Lining its coastline is the promenade, known to the locals as the Sliema Front which over the years has become beloved by joggers, walkers and a meeting place for local or visiting groups of friends and families.

Sliema, which means 'peace or comfort', once a quiet fishing village on the peninsula across Marsamxett Harbour from Valletta is now a bustling metropolis. Boasting views of the fortified capital it began to gro in 1853, the town was declared a parish in 1878 and now Sliema and its neighbouring town St. Julians constitute Maltas main coastal resort.
